The cataract surgery involves the removal of the cloudy lens followed by its replacement with an artificial lens, which is deployed in place of the original lens.
The eye surgery is performed under local anaesthesia using drops applied to the eye. It is completely painless and
does not last more than 10-15 minutes. The opening through which the whole procedure is carried out is so small that it closes itself after the eye surgery without sutures. Cataract surgery is performed by an eye doctor (ophthalmologist) on an outpatient basis, which means you don't have to stay in the hospital after the surgery.
